Ride Details

The 2nd Annual O’s Cool Bike Ride and Walk will be held in Troy, Alabama on the campus of Troy University on Saturday, April 27th, 2024. This ride will assist in providing balance bikes to low-income head-start programs in southern Alabama and endowing the Owen Wayne Lewis Memorial Scholarship at Troy University. The ride will offer FIVE different routes to choose from: the T-Rex Tour (64 miles), the Stegosaurus Stomp (45 miles), Triceratops Trek (34 miles), Raptor Trot/Ride (1.2 mile laps around campus), and the Little T-Rex Ride which is designed for the littlest riders just learning to ride their balance bikes. All routes will begin on campus with longer distances traveling through Troy and onto rolling terrain within Pike Co., Alabama. For those unable to attend in person, there is a virtual option available as well.

This event is geared toward being a family friendly event for all ages and abilities! All rides will leave off from the main quad near the fountain in the center of campus and return to the same location. The Raptor Ride/Walk through campus will be designed for beginners and allow them to challenge themselves to complete as many laps around campus as possible with each determining their own ride/walk distance. There will also be opportunity for youngsters to learn how to ride balance bikes and participate in a stride around the quad.

This event will be staffed with many volunteers from Troy University and local community groups. It is our priority to ensure the safety of all riders; appropriate measures will be taken to provide SAG vehicles and appropriate signage on the course routes to keep riders moving along with ease. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for the longer distance riders with fun, themed refreshment and aid stations strategically placed along the routes. The meals will be included for all participants as part of your ride entry fee. Refreshments will be provided for all participants along the course as well as fun activities for the kids on the quad.
